Many people choose to buy DVDs rather than rent them as they are relatively cheap to purchase, especially when you plan to watch a film many times.

The term DVD stands for Digital Versatile Disc or Digital Video Disc and it is an optical disc kind of storage media. The main function of a DVD is to store data such as movies but can be used to store other kinds of digital media as well.

It has been almost ten years since DVD became more popular than VCR as a storage method for movies. Today, DVDs are more common than ever and are becoming cheaper every day. Here are the two main reasons you should buy DVDs rather than rent them:

  1. It’s cheaper. Whether you purchase a brand new DVD or a used once, frequently renting a movie will always cost more than buying it outright. If you buy DVDs you have them at home ready to go whenever you wish to watch them.
  2. It builds your movie library. Buying your favourite films as they are released will put you on your way to having a fantastic film library. If you buy DVDs you will not need to rent from video stores any more and you can watch your favourites at your leisure.
